Artists Supporting Artists: Initiatives That Make Artists Visible
A conversation with two artists who have set up initiatives that give visibility to artitists and in the process are creating a community around them.
We often want to separate the facets of who we are into easy to digest labels like “painter”, but in reality our identities are made up of many different elements that collide together to make who we are. We were joined by two artists who have set up projects parallel to their studio practice and who have launched spaces that give visibility to artists that way reaching a much wider audience. John Dalton’s interviews with artists in his widely listened to podcast “gently does it…” have huge reach and allow everyone a glimpse into the artists’ practice and work as well as having a fascinating focus on meditation and emergence. Cesar Biojo is launching the platform Kaleido to give visibility to artists while allowing each work to be augmented by texts, audio, video as well as process shots. We explored what made these artists want to delve into other fields and how they balance this with the other aspects of their creative work.
