Session April 2021
Engaging Now
Speakers Michael Herbert Dorn and Guy Kinnear
in conversation with Elina Cerla
We were be joined by artists Michael Herbert Dorn and Guy Kinnear to talk about how a work of art is rooted in the here and now, as well as how meaning is determined by how it relates to both the past and the present. We explored how fundamental choices have a knock-on effect on all aspects of making work, the importance of purpose and place, mystery and atmosphere. Art for art's sake? Political intention? At the heart of the session lies the question: Why do we make the work we make?
